Emotions of A Young Mother

The Emotions of A Young Mother
By J.S. Larmore

Pure Terror

Fear was the first emotion I knew.
My youth had not yet begun to fade,
And still, creation saw fit to send me you

Shaky Acceptance

I was crushed by the weight of everything I must be.
I was a child… but there you were,
And in time, you’d be depending on me.

Steadfast Resolve
There was no choice, the decision was made.
I could not turn my back on a growing life.
I was going to be a mother, no matter how afraid.

Unconditional Love

The day came for me to meet you.
I was excited, and terrified beyond belief.
But love erased all when I stared into your eyes, so blue.

Enduring Gratitude

I can never say how much I owe.
You saved my life and revived my soul.
You changed me, provided purpose, helped me grow.

Maternal Serenity
Of all the things I thought I might be
A mother wasn’t my first, or last choice, or anything in between
But from terror to gratitude, without you, I wouldn’t be me

I Am

If I were made of glass
Shadowed, opaque, and cracked
Would you shatter me?
If I were but a rose
Wilting in winter's wind, half froze
Would you crush me?
But what were I a wolf
Savage huntress of the woods
Would you fear me?
And if I were a Queen
Fire goddess, hellish fury, fiend
Would you worship me?

I am the broken.
I am the night.
I am the fire.
I am the light.

And you don't own me

The World Beyond The Wasteland

Beyond the concrete wasteland,
Lies a planet wild and free.
Here an ancient magic
Impedes the gods of self-indulgence,
And the lords of technology.
And if you cross that portal,
Just beyond the trees,
You’ll feel the power all around you.
You’ll hear it on the breeze.
You’ll see it in the jade sunlight,
And the absence of the sky.
You’ve entered through enchantment
To explore the other side.
Here everything’s connected,
And everything’s alive.
There’s magic hanging in the air,
And it’s bringing you to life.
You wander through this alien world
But fear does not take hold.
Instead you face the wonder.
You feel it in your soul.
You see the Nymphs dance round you,
And are taken with their glee.
You frolic on behind them
Along the mossy green.
The magic swirls around you.
The wasteland gods in the past.
You’ve entered in the forest,
And you’ve found yourself at last.

Wild and Free

A whipping wind will wish to cross the sea.
It’s a wild spirit that cannot be contained.
When that spirit finally sets itself free,
there’s no blame, a spark must be unchained.

Your wild spirit has long since flown away.
It’s okay to mourn, and it’s okay to cry,
but your whipping wind isn’t lost forever,
it’s simply waiting for your turn to fly.

Hold tight to that sense of careless wonder.
Hold tight to that wild, laughing breeze.
Hold tight to all your recollections,
until your spirit returns to set your heart at ease.

story based poetry with a fantasy element

The Lovers and The Steel

The scarlet river thickly flowed
across the mossy forest floor.
The Lover, through the heart was stricken.
Felled by steel, fated as a lover no more.

The cold grey clouds moved in.
Rain poured from stormy eyes.
The Fiend mocked them from the darkness,
a heartless savage thrilled by love’s demise.

Dark shadows began to thicken,
the forest and Fiend… devoured in black.
And the Witch was suddenly beside them.
She vowed with resurrection to bring the lover back.

His life rekindled and blazed to inferno.
The Lover rose as though he’d not been slain.
The Maiden’s hope for love was swiftly frozen.
Her lover he was in body, but his soul had not remained.

A deathly chill settled over her.
The forest smelled dead and decayed.
The Maiden took up her lover’s sword,
and bravely, she prepared to face the Shade.

The stars reared and collided.
The world disintegrated like crumbling sand.
The Lovers took their final breaths together.
Felled by steel, each at the Maiden’s hand.

Pain Behind My Eyes

Buried in the shadows
The tenebrous cold
My friend
Another pounding pain
Inside of my brain
And each time it's
Sure to be my end
Cross my heart
And hope to die
Jam the nails
Into my eyes
And I'll never hurt
Again

Let It Go

Exhausted, downtrodden
Beaten by your rigmarole
Rewarding yourself for past deeds
Like Children's games
And I'm held captive
While you sing your own praise
Praying to gods of old for parole
Let it fu**ing go
If you have to hold the stage
How great can you be
Set me free
Before I rain fire on your parade
I'll invade
Your false dreams
You've decreed, you're the king
But you are the fool
You're through
Toss down your paper crown
And finally
Be still

Chances At Love

A Chance encounter
A collision of intention
Written in the stars
Our parting ways
Left an empty space
That I filled with
Amatory thoughts of you
I wished on the moon
And she whispered to you
Until you searched
For the girl of your
Unfulfilled Midnight desires
Uncontrolled hunger
Passion and fire
Warming young hearts
To true love
